What is there to say about the iPod shuffle that hasn't already been said in the other 600+ reviews?

So here are the five things *I* like best about it:

It's small and lightweight and goes right into my shirt pocket.

It's inexpensive so if i lose or break it or if it is stolen no big deal.

I can use the controls without looking at it.

It holds just the right amount of music.

Sand doesn't mess it up at the beach.

The charge lasts a long time.

Okay, so that's six.

Anyway, I've had my shuffle for 2 1/2 years and I still love it.

You can't even see what song you are playing and you need to use iTunes to upload your music. For this price, you can get something a LOT better that's not iPod that could even play videos! It doesn't stay charged for long. I regret getting this thing! Now I'm looking to buy a non-Apple mp3 player, which I can actually SELECT what song I want to hear. Plus, unlike most mp3 players, you can't use this as a flash drive for file storage. Completely worthless.

I never actually received this product. It was lost by the USPS and the merchant had no more items in stock. She did however promptly refund the full purchase price as well as postage. So from that perspective things with this purchase went as well as they possibly could have given that I never actually got the ipod.

I wanted an mp3 player for working out. I dont like things strapped to my arms or legs so a more traditional mp3 player was out of the question. Also I don't really listen to music outside of the car and gym so no need for a fancy player. Once I saw this thing in person I knew it was perfect for me. Its solid metal with a built in clip, also metal. Its extremely small and light. I can clip it to various parts of my clothing to accommodate the position im currently in. The sound quality is fantastic and I love the random song choices. You also can make your own playlist in itunes and use that but personally I like the surprise of random songs plus hearing songs that you may normally skip over on albums. As for battery time, well its never died on me. Seems to hold a charge forever, even when I don't charge it for a couple weeks while slacking on the workouts. Overall its been almost 3 years and this little thing looks great and sounds great. Also, in my opinion, the orange is the best color they have offered this in.

My first player was faulty and had to be returned. Note their return policy meant I had to pay the shipping costs to send back their faulty product!! Not happy about that since it didn't work in the first place!!

I heard nothing from them. After a week I called to discover they had not processed my return. My phone call did prompt a response, but even then I had to wait another week before I got a player which this time worked. They did not tell me they had a problem getting me a replacement, so player excellent.... Customer service I regard as poor since I had to chase them to get any action.

I doubt I will purchase from them again.

I own this for the last 60 days. When I recently went to India, I bought some regional language movies that were in PAL. So I bought this thinking that for the price of ~$55 I get the one that can play PAL/NTSC, MP3/WMV/DivX. On top of that it is a region free player as well as has a HDMI interface. However 2 months later this is what sums up my experience:

1. I could watch all of PAL DVDs. Watched some of the DivX movies. Felt great about the player. However the remote was not that reliable. I had to press hard/twice some times. That didn't bother me as I started using my universal remote(came with my pioneer plasma TV).

2. After 5-6 days, DVD player doesn't respond to remote/keys. Even the power button doesn't work. I have to remove the power from my extension cord. I still have this problem at least once in 2 weeks.

3. After a while I realized the it is not upconverting to 1080i/p. Though they don't advertise it (Coby says unconversion of 5.1ch audio only), I didn't realize that earlier.

4. After 5 weeks I'm getting tired of this as I finished watching most of the movies I brought from India. Video is freezing once in a while, taking looong time to load etc.

5. After 8 weeks I decided to listen to some mp3 cds on Coby. Took too much time to load the mp3 to CDs. However it played all of them. Wait.. not for the entire day!! By evening COBY is almost dead!! No matter what cd/DVD I put in, it's always on "Loading" state!

May be its my bad luck of getting a faulty one. May be not! May be!!

I got this thing to abstain on the HD format wars for a year or so.

It works reasonably well. The video quality over HDMI is fine. It does seem to have trouble with audio on some discs. On some discs, the channels are somehow screwed up (effects are overpowering, voices are faint) when downsampling to our stereo TV. On others, the audio occasionally drifts out of sync, which can be fixed by pausing the playback. Weird, and a little irritating. On many discs, the audio is perfectly fine.

If you buy this expecting to be wowed, you should learn to manage your expectations. It's a cheapie, stopgap player; it costs less than dinner for two and it shows. However, it is the definition of "good enough" for us.

I built my home theater system with all Sony components about 10 years ago, and have been saddled with looking for DVD players with 5.1 output to match the receiver after the original Sony player became obsolete (didn't play home videos). I have a good JVC player, but wanted upconversion capability after getting a new LCD HDTV. This was the only player I could find. It does the audio output, but as others reported, you'll have problems getting it to work with your multi-function remotes (no codes for COBY), and it seems very sensitive to disk quality, with occasional hiccups/hangs in output. In my case, it always seems to get going after a brief stall, but it happens at least once on every movie. Pretty annoying. I'll keep looking and write this off to "you get what you pay for" experience.

The Pioneer DV-F727 is not the average, run-of-the-mill multidisc changer. Even if your audio CD and DVD collections are quite sizeable, you can stash the goods neatly inside this 301-disc capacity "media server," then call selections up with the same ease and excitement as you would by keying an entry on a jukebox. An onscreen cataloging system helps manage your inventory, with an auto update feature that scans for new disc additions.

Should your collection really bulk out, it's even possible to double the system's capacity by linking two DV-F727s. All the while, you'll still maintain easy control over the whole kit 'n caboodle via a single, fully-featured and user-friendly remote control (supplied), or using an optional, plug-in PS/2 style computer keyboard or mouse.

One of the most elaborately featured DVD players we've ever encountered, the DV-F727 also takes care of the basics quite well--delivering pristine pictures and sound with component-video (interlace), S-Video, and composite-video outputs. Sound-wise, its optical and coaxial digital-audio outputs definitely deliver the Dolby Digital, DTS, and PCM stereo (up to 96 kHz, 24-bit) soundtracks. The player's Burr-Brown audio digital-to-analog converter and conventional analog jacks also proved quite fine.

Handy jog-shuttle dials on both the front panel and the remote make it a pleasure to manipulate the multispeed forward and reverse trick-play options.

Customizable settings let you vary picture parameters to taste or adjust the audio dynamic range for late night listening--so that soft sounds such as dialogue can be heard more clearly without making loud sounds even louder.

Given its immense disc storage capacity, this changer is remarkably compact--measuring about 16.5 inches wide, 17 inches deep, and 7.75 high.

The holding slots are accessible, one at a time, behind a motorized opening/closing Plexiglas "hood." Of course, there's also the option to quickly install and then remove a single disc--via the dedicated 301st slot--with its operation complemented by special "single loader" access and play keys.

Entering menu text and numerical data about stockpiled titles is reasonably easy. Information can be added using the onscreen soft keyboard in tandem with the cursor control joystick on the remote, or with the selection dial on the front panel. To speed up the process, there's also the option of plugging in and entering text on a conventional PS/2 computer keyboard.

Making life easier still, some music CDs now contain and automatically stream their own album and song title info (CD Text), which this changer will conveniently read, display, and automatically integrate into its program menu memory. If implemented, DVD text information is also downloadable. (A front-panel display lights up to indicate the presence of such text on a disc.)

A couple of bummers: you must abbreviate text entries when a title or artist's name exceeds 12 characters, the max this changer's memory will store and display. CD Text titles longer than 12 characters, while not memorized, will scroll across the LCD screen. Also take note: when a disc is playing, you can't enter data, or add or remove other discs.

Once program data is entered into the megachanger's memory, titles can be sorted and accessed by format (DVD or CD), disc title (alphabetically), or disc number.

Another option: you can create and name 20 custom files (10 DVD/Video CD and 10 CD) for automatic playback. However, there's still no avoiding the mandatory setup menus and unskippable FBI Warning before DVD play commences.

All in all, the DV-F727 represents a remarkable piece of engineering and entertainment prowess from the folks at Pioneer.

"great device but not for DVDRs or DVDRWs" 2010-01-06

I own three of these. They are very fragile and must not be moved with DVDs inside. The manual states this, but I learned what can happen when this occurs. I had to have one repaired while under warranty, but now I can't find a repair technician within 200 miles of me and had to learn how to take them apart and fix them myself. I have fixed two of them when they stopped loading disks because they both got "jossled" while they were powered on with disks inside. It is very important that you make sure this doesn't happen. Of course, with kids around, it can happen in spite of being careful, as in my case. Also DO NOT play DVDR's or DVDRWs. You can get the device to play most -Rs, but this appears to mess with the device and it stops playing correctly. Pixels will often be distorted on the screen after playing DVDRs regarless of what type disk you are playing. I also learned this from experience. I'm going to have to take one out of service for this reason. Pioneer does not state they will play these and I'm sure that is why. Sound quality isn't as great as I would like, but I can live with it. In spite of all of this, I still love my Pioneer 301s.

I TRIED to use/enjoy two of these to no avail.The first failed after four years via main IC board failure,the second after 18 months,same thing.Pioneer was absolutely no help.Now Pioneer has discontinued this product.Over one thousand bucks bucks down the drain!Fool me once,shame on you.Fool me twice,say goodbye to all my future business Pioneer!

I've owned this machine for about a year now and have had no problems with it. You'll read a lot of comments about the limited title entry space, which is true, but I keep may DVD library information on my computer so this is only a slight inconvenience to me.

I've read one review where the author ruled this unit out because it would not play DVD-Rs he recorded. Pioneer doesn't list this in its specifications, but the unit does play DVD-Rs and even dual layer DVD+Rs. I've got over 200 of these on my player and it's never balked at playing any of them.

It might be worth the wait for HDMI output and 1080p upconversion in the next version, but I don't know if/when this will happen and in the meantime my DVDs look great using component output on my HDTV.

I've owned the Pioneer DV-F727 for at least 6 years and have been VERY pleased. I still remember the first Universal movie we fired up. It had the new (well, new then) logo rotating into view around the Earth. With a component video hookup it looked so good it almost passed for 3-D. It still looks as good today.

Frankly, I'm surprised to see this model still for sale considering how quickly most electronics come and go. I suppose that says something about it, too. To be balanced, there is a small gripe. Only 12 characters can be entered for each disk title. I suppose it's limited by what can fit on the front display. It helps that there's also an artist field. It doesn't display on the front but does appear on screen when display is pressed on the remote. Oh, and the remote isn't backlit.

The very minor gripes certainly don't amount to more than a small fraction of a star rating. Therefore, I still rate it as a solid 5 stars.

Video and audio quality are top notch with this stylish Denon player.

This is an affordable quality player by Denon who produces high quality AV components.

Looks like the minor freezing problem has been fixed by the latest firmware update.

"Great performance, but value compromised by price" 2009-08-05

UPDATE AS OF 11/25/09: I have experienced the random FREEZES that others have reported to plague this player. The player will freeze and then resume after 5-6 seconds. Very annoying.

UPDATE AS OF 8/18/09: This player is definitely growing on me. The Audio Quality from the Burr Browns is nothing short of top-notch. Powered off Eject times dropped by nearly 5 seconds to a reasonable 13 seconds w/ FW update done easily over net. My recommendation is to use NR setting of 3 for DVDs (it is not available on BDs thankfully). I would say DVD upconversion is identical to the Oppo 99% of the time in realworld use with a reasonable sized display - 50" in my case. YMMV. Really like this player, but I stand by my comments re pricing - needs to be $450 at a maximum to compete.

Note to my rating of 4/5 stars: this is highly contingent on current pricing at $535. If pricing were to dip to $425, my rating would go to 5 stars. With the Oppo at $500, the value proposition is not there with the 2010. It needs to be priced slightly under the oppo unless you are a denon nut beyond reason. The Pioneer 320 is the next closest competitor and its price has dipped below $300. The Denon needs to occupy a space between the two.

Major hdmi handshake issue with my 8G Kuro out of the box. Make sure you turnoff the HDMI control from the player or you will have HDMI gremlins galore going in and our of menus and what not. I am still getting HDMI gremlins upon power off and power on.

Menus are largely identical to 1800 and 2500; they are sparse but easy to follow. I was hoping for a bit more color and refinement, but they work. The 2010 does allow five memory settings for PQ adjustment, but does not offer any canned settings like the Pioneer 320 and 51.

Operational speed and responsiveness have largely improved from the 2500, but i would not categorize it as quick. Powered off eject time is consistently 17 (w. fw 13s) seconds. Load times are mid-pack to slow and by no means fast.

For example:

Dark Knight: to anti-piracy page

JVC: 17 seconds

Oppo: 16 seconds

Pio 320: 42 seconds

Pio 51: 45 seconds

Denon 1800: 42 seconds

Denon 2500: 48 seconds

Denon 2010: 36 seconds

Heavy Java discs showed a bigger improvement, shaving nearly 20 seconds off the POTC1 from the 2500.

Build quality is more compact, but it is heavy and substantial. I would compare it to the Oppo without hesitation. The oppo weighs 11lbs and the 2010 weighs 10.6lbs. The Oppo is a hair taller and has a more imposing stance in a rack. I would give the nod to the Denon in regard to looks, although I prefer the 2500 to both.

In respects of my initial testing, the abt chip does not recognize film cadences and deinterlace as well as the Oppo in synthetic tests. Its performance is good, but not as quick or accurate as the Oppo or for that matter the JVC XV-BP1. It does an admirable job with video based content. Color accuracy was very good and did not push red like the denon 1800.

BD performance at 1080P 24fps was excellent and identical to the 2500/1800/Oppo. I am a believer that BD at 1080P 24fps is largely identical with normal viewing distances/display sizes (i am using a 50" kuro).

SD Upscaling on the little material is definitely better than the 2500 and 1800. I have not been able to put my finger on it, but I think it might be enhancing the contrast to give the image more pop. Colors are pretty neutral and accurate. The image is very similar to the Oppo, but not quite as good. I am reasonably impressed with its upscaling ability. More time will give me a better feel for it, but first impressions are positive.

My early gripes are that Denon did not improve speed significantly; I think the higher end CEs like pioneer, denon and others are struggling to make the gains that the koreans have. Interestingly, Samsung only made the gains when they dropped the real benefit of their players -the reon chip.

That said, Audio Quality and Picture Quality are excellent in this attractive package.

I spent awhile looking for, pricing & reading the reviews for these types products. So far I am happy with my choice. Being somewhat

"electronically impaired" I did have problems in the beginning turning

my vinyl records into CDs. I had to discard a number of CDs that did

not record properly. However, my second session proved successful.

Recorded entire CDs with no problems. I agree the buttons are hard to read. Overall I would recommend it. I'm looking forward to getting rid of my records and most cassettes.

Before I bought this item, I scoured the web looking for reviews on it. All I could find was one reviewer on Amazon, who gave it 5 stars. Since it was, theoretically, exactly what I was looking for, I decided to try it. While the design is intentionally retro, it is near impossible to read the labels on the operating buttons. They're raised letters in exactly the same color/material as the background, so unless you're right in front of them and the light is on them at exactly the correct angle, they are just impossible to read. The manual presents instructions that are contradictory. It says to do one thing on one page and contradicts it 2 pages later. The cassette function is minimal. It consists of a slot and a single button. When you put the cassette in, it automatically starts playing. To get it to stop, you have to completely eject it. The only other function it does is fast forward, by pushing the button halfway in. So, to rewind, you have to flip the tape over and fast forward it! The CD functions work about half the time. It can be 'busy' forever, until you have to just shut the whole unit off and start over. I have recorded CD's that the machine doesn't recognize, won't finalize and simply won't play. I haven't yet tried the phono function. I'm going to play with it a little more, as I got 1 good CD out of it, but this is likely a return.

I am very happy with the Grace recorder stereo. All the functions work fine. I don't have any lps to try the lp to cd function. I love that it's antique looking and doesn't take up alot of room. It's just what I was looking for and I hope to have all my stored cassettes put on to cd soon. The price is good and it is a good purchase.

This is a good DVD while to works but as you can see from other reviews and if you do any research (just google "coby wrong disc." After about 6 months of use itt just stopped working and is not fixable. I would go with a better brand and even pay more for the quality assurance. COBY IS JUNK! STAY AWAY! Also COBY customer service simply told me I was SOL. What a help they were...Find another brand.

This is a great little protable DVD player for the camper. We don't always take our laptop with us everywhere ... so this DVD player fits the bill. Of course like any other electronic device that has to run on a battery, it doesn't have as long of a charge as I would like.

This DVD player worked great with light use for a little while. Then it said "No DVD" for certain DVDs. Soon it said "No DVD" for all DVDs.

It is now a good looking but worthless piece of electronics that I hope can be recycled.

Well, I think my title says it all. When it was working it seemed like a good little dvd player. The first time I used it during a lay-over the battery died before the end of my 2 hour movie. It then broke for no apparent reason after only two more uses.

I bought this player over two years ago for my son for Christmas. I was hesitant at the time because of mixed reviews. At the time I purchased it on sale through amazon for about 100.00. The player still works I'm very please with it. It has traveled with us on various trips and is used at home by family members. Past reviews which mention the player only working a couple of times and not working again may be cause by a little switch that sometimes is tampered with by children. The switch is an AV in and out switch. If the power button is on, the dvd is in the player, and you get a blank screen I'd suggest playing with the AV switch on the side of the DVD player.

Now there are plenty of portable players to choose from that are new and affordable- this review is just to inform others that after two years ours still works and we are pleased with it.

I purchased this PATA writer for my sisters old Dell 4400 she's attached to. It installed easy, just plugged it in, windows installed drivers for it and does everything it's supposed to do. It' writes CD'S, DVD'S, Dual Layer DVD'S, burns labels on Lite-On disc, etc. Would purshase again. I use a different version of this writer in my PC but it's SATA and it works great and it's fast.

This is a great unit. My DVD burner was on the fritz so I needed a replacement. The functionality is excellent, comes with Nero software and the price is great. If you need a replacement DVD burner with an IDE connector (older computer), get this drive.

This player will read and write everything except HD format and is an excellent price. Easy upgrade that is worth the money. Sports LightScribe technology wich really cool and easy to use. I have not had any problems with this drive and all the DVDs created have worked without a problem. Works excellent in my built pc!

"A Lot For An Outstanding Price" 2009-07-08

This DVD drive is on the higher end of optical drive technology as far as its speeds go. Of course, multi-drives like this generally have lower CD-ROM speeds than ordinary CD-ROM drives, and I don't deny that my old CD-ROM is faster reading CD's (it's 52x rather than this Lite-On 48x). But for a DVD drive, this one has the better speeds.

Furthermore, this DVD drive comes with Nero Essentials 7 (at least mine did), which allows you to view and touch-up digital photos, record videos with your digital camera (sold separately), cut & splice clips to make movies, build video DVD's and audio CD's, and more!

This drive's compatibility is also a big plus. I've seen optical drives that don't like working with Windows XP, but this one works just fine. It uses standard Windows drivers, so you don't have to install Nero just to use the drive.

The only old-fashioned feature of this drive is its being PATA (though that takes an unreal amount off the price, or so it looks judging by the prices of the SATA ones). I got this PATA drive because 1) it was very affordable, and 2) because my motherboard only has 2 SATA slots, one of which is occupied by my hard drive and the other of which I hope to use for another hard drive.

So all the way around, this DVD combo drive is a great choice if you want a lot for a low price.

This item was ok, but my husband and I wanted a feature on the remote control, that this item didn't have. We wanted to adjust the AM/FM stereo stations and volume with the remote control. That was an important thing to us, so we decided to return it. In order to return this item to electronics-expo, once the box has been opened is very costly. You have to pay for the shipping to you (which is approx. $20.00), pay a 20% restocking fee (which in my case was $40.00) and than pay for the shipping back to them. When all was said and done, I was out approx. $80.00. How do you know if your going to like the item until you open the box and check the item out? I will never order anything from electronics-expo ever again.

I purchased the TEAC GF-350 in 2006 and I have had no troubles. I have lately been transferring a lot of my mother's old vinyl LPs to CD, and it has been a breeze.

It is simple to use: place the vinyl on turntable and a blank music cd in its slot. On the unit, select the `source' button (here, phonograph). Now, hit the `record' button: this puts it in the `pause' mode; it is not yet recording. Next, move the needle to record (which starts up the record automatically) and then hit the `play' button (which starts the actual recording). I do not bother with the automated track but use the remote control button to make tracks (the track button is in the very upper left hand corner of the remote). When side one of the record is finished hit the `pause' button (on remote or unit), flip the record, and hit `play' again (either on unit or remote). By hitting the pause button it automatically adds a track.

When you are finished and are ready to finalize the CD you do the following: for `source' press the CD button; then press the `finalize' button, then press the `play' button (all on the unit). It takes about 1 or 2 minutes to finalize (the little window on the unit will countdown to final).

To record cassettes: pull out your old cassette player (I have a Walkman). I bought the cable at Radio Shack: on one end is the plug that fits into the headphone jack of the Walkman, the other end is split in two: one white and one red, that you plug into the white/red plugs on the back of the Teac unit. For recording you simply hit the `source' button until it reads `auxiliary', and then continue with the steps above.

I agree that the resulting CD will not be as sound-worthy as those you purchase. However, my mother (age 81) has really enjoyed having all of her 1950s records on CD, and I was very glad to be able to record dozens of some specialized cassettes (lectures, mostly) onto CD (and then transfer to my Ipod by simply loading the CD into my computer, transferring to iTunes, then to the Ipod).

"Plauged by faults, poor sound quality" 2009-07-22

This produce was a big, overpriced disappointment. The sound quality is extremely poor, the turntable is rubbish, and when you record your vinyl there is no bottom end - consequently everything sound weak and tinny.

And then to top it all off, the cd drive suddenly stopped working, and has jammed with a cd inside of it. Save your money, and get one of those mp3 turntables instead, as a stand a lone unit this thing is a lemon.

The TEAC GF-350 arrived in perfect condition. This is an attractive unit that fits well with other stereo components. It is substantial in size so you need a good surface for it to operate from and high enough to see the controls well and open the turntable lid. I bought this unit to preserve a 40 year old record collection. The unit records well once you read the instructions and understand how to separate the tracks properly and how to finalize each recording. You must also ensure you use "music" CDs otherwise you will think the unit doesn't work when it actually does. The unit operates quite well - the record player, the CD player, the radio, and it has input for other analog sources. It doesn't play back with much volume, but is adequate for any small room. My only disappointment is that the recordings are not as dynamic as a commercial CD and you have to boost the volume and tonal settings to enjoy the playback. Overall - a great unit at a good price.

I bought 2 of these exact items here on Amazon, via TigerDirect. The instructions are in hard to interpret (Chinese version of English); the Menu navigation is not logical; and the most important feature, the voice recorder, works for a 6 months and just stops working. The memory portion, for purposes of using as a thumb-drive is the only thing that still works... I recommend you don't buy!!!

Aside from other inconveniences; the whole menu is in chinese/japanese, so it is hard to figure out what to do when you are stuck and far away from the little manual. Also it is very hard to turn on. It would take me about 5 minutes to turn on. Some times I just gave up and did not used it.

Evnthough they dont recomend for use in car, I use it without problem but use it for just listening. Do not try to navigate files while driving.

I have used this player for a year. I love its ability to adjust tempo, the player has great playing options.

What I hate is:

1) the player's LCD collects pocket lint making it impossible to read.

2) the player's primary selection switch is a toggle switch that has become difficult to actuate; the electrical switches have become defective.

3) the LCD's window is glass. While the player was in my key pocket the window became fractured. I have no recollection of any trauma to my key pocket. I had glass shards in my pocket.

"Have had trouble with unit reading disk..." 2007-12-24

I have purchased and installed 3 of these units. Two in church sound systems and one in my home. All of the units have had problems reading certain CDs. I get "no disk" errors or it takes a very long time to read the CD, both of which are unacceptable in a unit of this price. These CDs have been "brand new out of the box" and CDRs I've recorded. Sometimes they read sometimes they don't. I can not recommend this unit.

This is a well built deck that has held up just fine with heavy use. However, I would not buy another one because IT DOES NOT HAVE A REAL TIME COUNTER FOR THE CASSETTE DECK. For a $375 industrial deck, to omit a real time counter is ridiculous.

I've used Ipods almost exclusively for location playback music but found that connecting it to a mixer to be a pain. We own several types of Ipods, and they've all been great, but we usually use a Nano as it allows a playlist to crossfade. (I haven't noticed that the others have that capability). If we run the system in Mono it means coming out of the Nano with a cable going to a splitter and then combining the signals into one input to go into the board. If in stereo it's just coming out of the Nano to a splitter and going into the board. If you run the system for hours at a time charging a Nano can be a challenge as the audio connector is too close to the charging connector (without using a Monster adapter, etc.) or hauling in a dock of some sort. Also the Nano's display while not illuminated is hard to see in some environments, so if you run the background display constantly you run the battery down quicker. To try and remedy all this, I purchased a Numark "Fit for Sound". In doing so I have a clean way of connecting the Nano, charging it, keeping it illuminated and operating the controls. Numark's Fit for Sound is the predecessor of the IDEC (?) but it is playback only and has both RCA and XLR connectors, and was supposedly designed for use in gyms and fitness s (and has an infrared remote). Anyway, I purchased one and installed it into one of my racks. Voila (!) I had the perfect solution for having the Ipod in a stable rack-mounted device which charges, provides audio and the controls perform exactly as the controls are on the Ipod. (No more fumbling with an Ipod in a dock and worrying about getting the unit out of the dock or possibly damaging the connector, etc. all while running sound at a location.) I liked it so much I put it in my rack at home (so again I'm without a solution for a location rack...so I needed another one). The IDEC will probably provide the same performance as the Fit for Sound as it looks identical with the exception of possibly no infrared remote, and not having the XLR and will only have RCA connectors (no biggie). The recording aspect is also a benefit, but be aware that not all Ipods will do voice recording, and I've found by using external microphones on Ipods and through the use of recording interfaces by other companies the Ipods (which have moving hard drives, such as the full size Ipods we own) create a slight background noise for 10 seconds or so every few minutes as (I think) this is when the audio data is being written to the drive. I believe this is something internal to the Ipod and not associated with a recording interface, but I've not recorded with the IDEC so I don't know the exact cause or remedy. I don't think most folks notice this as the noise is like a slight whine and I notice it as I'm using some higher-end headphones and listen for any issues. No one else has brought this to my attention and it's not readily noticed unless you're doing something where there is a lapse in the audio, such as between words being spoken (if recording a sermon) or between songs where you use an Ipod as a recording device. I don't know this is the case with all Ipods or with Nanos (which reportedly don't have moving hard drives) or will be associated with the IDEC, but my guess is this has more to do with the Ipod than the recording interface. I found the price on Amazon for the IDEC with shipping is the lowest I've found on the web, and I'm looking forward to using it both as a playback and recording device. The Fit for Sound device (is identical except for being white in color) is basically bulletproof, solid, reliable and well built. The IDEC should be just as good and probably before all is said and done I'll have one in each of my racks. You can think of it as a super-dooper, bulletproof Ipod dock which mounts on a rack and provides a safe, reliable, and clean way to run an Ipod with the added benefit of being able to record and that probably sums up what the IDEC is all about. It's the answer to what many of us have really needed and wished someone came up with a long time ago. I hope this review helps.

It's nice to have the large buttons and secure cradle for the ipod. This was particularly true on the maiden voyage of mine when hitting the big buttons was helpful in the dark. Navigation through playlists is, however, not as easy as it is on the native ipod wheel. I haven't tried the recording feature, but i'm looking forward to it.

At the current price ($325.00ish) the 1610 is a nice player with good Blu ray playback (same as their 2010) and pretty good SD dvd up conversion. I tested about 200 titles and it played them all! And I had no freezes to. For the money it is a good Blu ray player with a high end image...

One must wonder where the street price will land on these in a month or even weeks. In a competitive landscape where quality 7.1 analogues are below $300 (ie 320), lightning speed and quality upconversion are below $225 (JVC), and netflix and pandora streaming are available for $200, how a denon can justify a $500 MSRP player without a brand name chipset, mediocre speed, and only two channel out. It is a well-built, heavy player that looks awesome in a rack (not as masculine as a 2500/3800), but neither wins on performance nor wins on value.

The mid-range ($300 to $600) market segment is book-ended by the Pioneer 320 on one end and the Oppo 83 on the other. Players like the Denon 1610 struggle to stand out in regard to either performance or value, which is a dangerous proposition for the majority of us who are not brand-addicted. I know I have been probably a bit overly critical of higher branded players like the Onkyo 606 and 507 and the Harman Kardon BDP1, but I firmly believe in quality and value. This is probably why I have banged on about both the pioneer 320 and the JVC XV BP1. They put very high quality AV performance or lightning fast operation in the hands of normal folks in tough times.

The 1610 (and the 2010 for that matter) are a bit late to the party and too expensive. I would strongly recommend the 1610 were its street price just under $300 (and I suspect it will be come Halloween). The 2010 is one of the few direct competitors to the Oppo for pure BD/DVD performance. It has a better audio section, but worse video capabilities. It could be a real contender at $425-$450, but is comical at $600 or whatever they are going for.

With Denon DVD-2500BTCI's selling for under $300, I would be hard-pressed to recommend the 1610 for its current street price of $450.

With updated firmware, powered off eject time decreases from 17 seconds to 13 seconds (Same as 2010).

Purchased this DVD player 6 months ago - used very infrequently. This morning tried to get the RENTED DVD out and the thing wouldn't turn on. Spoke to customer service rep who politely informed me that warranty lasts 90 days so I'm out of luck. Ended up taking the whole thing apart myself to get the dvd out - after that pieces are going in the trash..... Oh well, at least I didn't spend a lot of money in the first place. I still feel like I threw the money straight in the trash can....

Mine could play Netflix rentals without any problems. However, several months into its lifespan, when I'd turn it on it wouldn't always stay on. But once I got it to stay on it would stay on indefinitely, so I just left it on full-time. But today when I inserted a DVD, it shut off and wouldn't turn on again. I had to take the housing off to retrieve the DVD.

I agree with the reviewers who hate the remote. It's hard to use, and you need a clear unobstructed line of sight for it to work. I'm not buying one of these ever again.

I bought this dvd player to replace a dvd player that would not play rented movies. This player has the same problem. It plays the previews fine but locks up or displays a choppy, purple, pixilated screen when the movie starts. Burned video from my camcorder works fine. Avoid if you buy or rent movies. Mine is personally headed for the landfill and I barely got to use it.

I decided to give this one a chance since the price was so good and it was a compact player. It didn't play some of our DVD's correctly, and then it stopped working. Too bad, it sure cleared up some shelf space being so small compared to our old player. It also seemed like the disc tray was really fragile because it was so thin. I shipped it back and will probably go for a better name brand for a few extra bucks.

well i own it for two days and it already giving me trouble like half way into the movie it freezes with all the movies and so it start playing from the beginning but then i had to go thru it to find were i was and i well and it seem it be playing fine but it do it again and it also started as if the motor on it about to go out and also own another gpx dvd before but was not great either had that one for a month and the laser went out on that one too

I just received the Crosley CD Songwriter recorder this afternoon, and I have already recorded 8 albums. They sound great! It is so easy to operate. As others have already stated, the speakers are not the greatest, but with earphones the sound is really awesome. I haven't downloaded any of the CD's into the computer yet for transfer to my MP3 player, but that is a project for tomorrow. If you are on the fence about this one---I highly recommend it.

Disappointing piece for frustration.

Bought one of these last July, 2009 from Target online. First of all, if you're dubbing an LP or Cassette to CD, once you start the dub you can no longer adjust or change the volume till the dub is complete. If you're dubbing a cassette to CD, the dubbing will not stop when the cassette has completed so you get a 15 minutes or so of white noise until the CD is full. Any other dubbing device I've ever seen will automatically stop recording / dubbing when the source device stops. Why this one doesn't is a mystery to anyone who's used another dubbing device. Also, the "track splitting" device which you're supposed to use to separate tracks when dubbing from an LP or Cassette to CD is joke! It stops the recording for too long and chops off the begining of the next track whenever you use it! Finally, I used it for a week last Aug and haven't touched it again till today - Oct 24 and now the Cassette deck does not work! It will not fast-forward or rewind a cassette and eats them when you play them! This after maybe 10 hours of use and 2 and half months of sitting idle. Never again!

I got this for Christmas 3 years ago and have been using it almost every day since them for over 2 hours. The sound quality is not so great in the car, but thats what headphones are for! Mine stopped working the other day though, I wish sony had a better support program though. If anyone knows how to stop the 'No Disc' error, please contact me at [...]

This DVD player is great, even if I got a few errors, but those are easily remedied. The only 2 problems are that there is not volume control on the remote and fast forward/slow buttons on the actual DVD player.

I recommend this DVD player for those who can take care of it and take it on trips, planes, and for universal use in the home environment.

I got this item as a gift and it worked for only one DVD. When I tried to charge it up again later, the charge wouldn't take. I sent it back to Sony and two weeks later, was told that a new battery would cost $225 (and no, they wouldn't waiver on it despite the fact it was a gift and I had no receipt). I'm not going to waste any more time with Sony and will look elsewhere for a replacement. I hope Amazon yanks this product from their site.

I have had the player for approximately one year and hardly ever used it. I have played about 10 DVD's on it and when I got it out to use it the other day I started watching a movie and the screen all of a sudden froze. I tried to push fast forward, pause, and play and the player did nothing. I turned it off and back on and now all I get is No Disc or Disc Error on the screen. I believe the player should have been capable of playing at least a thousand DVD's before a failure. I kept the player in a case in my closet so it wasn't setting out in direct sunlight or anything. I am very disappointed in this product and have written Sony about it. I will have to wait and see how well they back the products they sell.

I've had this unit 10 months. Firstly, you can't use it without a battery, even if its connected the mains. What a joke. So my first battery wouldn't recharge, and Sony charged me $258 for a new battery. Half what I paid for the whole DVD.

That battery lasts 5 hours, and the system turns off. It won't recharge either. So today, they tell me my power adapter needs exchanging, and thats $158. I tell them to shove it, I'm never buying another piece of junk from this company ever again. I read they are struggling to prevent from going bankrupt. With this terrible service, I'll be happy if they never sell anything to anyone ever again.

I received an HD-A2 Player some two years ago just months before the contest was won by Blu-Ray. My total commitment to HD-DVD was no more than 20 discs and I thought it all to be over and my small HD-DVD collection would eventually become obsolete. Too my surprise the HD-A2 upgraded my regular DVDs to a picture quality I did not think was possible. I started to compare its performance with other upgrade capable Players in the Best Buy store. I am convinced that this model renders the best upgrade picture. This may be the case also for some other Toshiba HD-DVD upgrade Players but I was not able to make the comparison. I have never had a problem with the Player and I use it some 20 hrs per week or more. Recently,I decided to take some of the pressure off of this unit it by purchasing another HD-A2. Surprisingly enough there is a healthy trade in the marketplace for both new and used units and so there must be more loyal fans of HD-DVD out there than I had previously thought. And then maybe these fans have come to realize like I had that this HD-A2 is one heck of an upgrade Player and therein lies its primary value. I eventually settled on EBay seller Frashe46 who seems to have many of them as well as other models of Toshiba HD-DVD Players also in quantity. On a "best offer" bid he accepted $65 with $11.65 shipping -a great price for this Player. He advertises the Players as used with Remote and an HMDI cable included but I think that they are probably refurbished. His rating is 99.5% and a check of his feedback column shows no dissatisfied customers. The unit arrived well packaged -it did not look all that much used and has played since arrival, as I use it exclusively now, with no problems. I just might get another one!

I am fortunate to have a store nearby with a huge HD DVD selection at rock bottom prices making this purchse much more sensible for me. The player itself is outstanding, I also have a Blu-Ray player and it is very difficult to tell the difference between the two. The upscaling is amazing, I fully recommend this player especially if you have access to HD DVD's.

I picked it up for $60 (including shipping) an absolute steal. Since this technology isn't being manufactured anymore I wouldn't pay more than $100 which is around what a good upscaling DVD player costs. At the very the very least that's what you're getting with this player

This HD DVD player was a snap to install and works flawlessly. It's questionable whether or not the HD format will prevail or if BluRay will replace it, but I, like many others, am watching my pennies and will opt for the HD DVDs rather than BluRay based on the price difference. The Toshiba HD DVD player was also easily recognized by my Harmony Universal Remote, so I can control the TV, Home Theater, DVD, and Satellite DVR with a single remote.

I own both BD and HD DVD formats, and purchased this before Black Friday in 2007 for under $90. It is a great player, that has played every movie I have played, and the picture/fuction quality is oustanding. For the price, very robust. Ironically it played movies, that got stuck in the more sensitive A35 (which I also own), along with BD machines.

Everything about this unit is top notch. everything except ONE THING! Almost all of them suffer from a serious manufacturing defect which is more than likely exacerbated by a serious design flaw!

I read the horror stories and choose not to pay any heed, wanting that great Burr Brown sound for my audio and that beyond great picture quality. Well, when it worked all that and more was true. BUT......... the first one I ordered shipped with a faulty laser. It coudn't read ANY discs without glitching terribly, stuttering, freezing and basically having a nervous breakdown. You could HEAR the laser having a major meltdown..... Ok, the company I purchased this one (a reliable Amazon seller, Vann's) was most helpful and immediately shipped me a new, unopened replacement unit. SAME THING, only it lasted about 3 hours, Then it went berserk with dropped audio, freezing and glitches galore. BUMMER!

Vann's again accepted my return and I will need to try another model or brand. I bought this unit strictly for the audio and when it worked, it was GLORIOUS. I have read you can replace the laser assembly but it needs to be done on a regular basis and that has GOT to be the result of a serious design flaw in the unit itself.

BELIEVE the negative reviews. If you want to buck the odds MAYBE you will get one that works for more than 3 hours out of the box, but it wont last long...... I have learned my lesson, don't let yourself be tempted by the low price. I have a 130 dollar Pioneer that plays all regions, outputs both Pal AND NTSC , does all AVI formats thru a USB jack, SACD and DVD-A and features converters ALMOST as good as this Denon. And guess what, the Pio WORKS! I was greedy and wanted that little bit extra in the audio end and blew off the bad reviews hoping I would get lucky with mine. ARRGHHHH!

OK, first off...this unit originally released in January 2006. For non-audiophiles...this is near high-end equipment. That being the case, a lot of effort was placed into its development...there's more to gain here besides only displaying video. What's the hidden secret? Audio.

[OK, off my soapbox...to those who complain that its too complicated or doesn't provide ease of use.]

I picked this unit up about 2 months ago, and to my surprise it greatly outperformed my Denon 1940CI. I really didn't expect for my old DVDs to look any better.

[VIDEO]

Star Wars(episodes 4-5(remastered), and 1-3)...the ultimate test, right?! I was more than shocked at how well the REON-VX HQV scaler performed great. I was able to see some detail that I have not seen before. I literally watched all six episodes in 3 days. You will not be dissapointed in the video performance. REON's scaler outshines Faroudja easily. Depending on your TV(LCD/Plasma), and its native video scaling ability...this next piece of advice may or may not do you any good. I have a Samsung LN46A650. Anyway, here goes...out of the box the blacks were not deep black/plasma-like on my LCD. I recommend that you toggle this IRE option, to your liking.

IRE toggle directions:

1) select 'Picture Adjust', by default STD will be selected.

2) select one of the memory options that can be saved (M1-M5)

3) next select option 3

4) move the cursor down to select the 3rd option below, which is the IRE setting (by default this is set to 7.5)

5) toggle this setting by moving the cursor on your remote up/down, between '0IRE' and '7.5IRE'

*worked wonders for my black level, when set to 'OIRE'

[AUDIO]

This player has Burr-Brown 24/192 Audio DACs, and AL24 processing which makes for a better than average listening experience. This is, however subjective to your receiver/amp type and speakers. When listening in 2-channel mode, the Burr-Browns make audio CDs sound great. More times than few, I hear some discrete sound from an artist' recording that I never heard before. Simply amazing experience, to hear a new sound from a recording that you have been listening to for 20+ years. While watching a DVD, Denon's AL24 processing does something special to audio over a digital input(HDMI/optical/coaxial). I could not believe the new sounds that I was hearing from the Star Wars movies. For example, a new voice in the background, footsteps from the surrounds. Good stuff.

[OTHER FEATURES]

DVD-Audio/SACD playback (do not own any, can't pronounce myself an audiophile yet)...but I have heard them on someone else' 2930 player. Awesome sound. I suppose that the Denon Link proprietary output to a Denon receiver sounds great. But, unfortunately you have to purchase a high-end Denon receiver to gain a Denon link input. Not for the moderate spending consumer, such as myself.

[ISSUES]

I would not be doing my due diligence here, if I did not mention that this player has two issues: 1) The laser has been known to give out, after some time. There are countless sellers on a certain auction site(unnamed) that can sell you a replacement. Basic 'Macguyver' skills are required for replacing this. 2) It will not play EVERY DVD+R/DVD-R media brand. Of the countless number of DVD media that I own...it has played about 98%, with no problem. Only the cheapest of the cheap brands will have issues.

Overall, this player is great. I give it 4 stars, due to the two issues above. Performance is a 5 in my book. Paired with a good TV, receiver, and speakers...I am certain that you won't be dissapointed.

Even though Blu Ray is the future there are plenty of standard DVDs around and it will take ages to see some of them reissued in HD. Therefore the standard DVD player is not going away anytime soon. The price drop makes Denon 2930 a real bargain.

The video and audio quality is simply outstanding and worth every penny of the $300 tag.

Inclusion of the SACD function only sweetens the deal (as I'm still grieving over the failure of this superb audio format).

And last but not least this is a multi-system capable player (simple Region unlocking with a remote control required) that plays every DVD from anywhere in the World.

This product is for persons whom want to watch standard dvd movies that look as close to blu ray dvds as possible. I highly recommend this product for serious minded movie lovers and videofiles.

The Realta Reon VX-50 HQV Processing does a great job of maximizing the potential of standard dvds in both picture and sound quality. My favorite feature about this unit is that once it is calibrated to my desired taste and liking, it seems to bring out the best of all the movies no matter how poorly the film to video transfer was made. There's only so much that can be done to stardard dvds. This product does the best at making standard dvds rival hd dvd and blu ray.

I purchased two of these dvd players for my two daughters 7 and 11. They worked well and kept the girls entertained. It took a while to figure out how to add the color but we played with the setting and figured it out. It is perfect for bringing to afterschool activities as well. Well worth the money!

I love this product! I can stay on the treadmill for 2 hours if I am watching a good movie. The headphones are not great so I changed them out with my MP3 headphones. I never thought Coby would be a brand I would be so happy with but this series of portable DVD players are great.I also purchased the newer unit w/speakers integrated and since this original purchase was for my teenage son with special needs any less attachments was a plus.So Dad inherited this unit and I love it!I found new Case Logic cd carrier with clear window which makes a great carrier for either unit and it really protects screen with only minor obstruction.Very personal...very portable...suprising battery life.I am happier with the speaker integrated model but also quite a few more $$$

I was looking for a small DVD player that I could use in my Toyota Prius. I have it setup so that it plays through the car JBL radio and uses the built in 7" screen on the Prius for the video. This DVD player is small enough to fit in the glove box or console. It comes with all the cords and carrying case needed to be fully functional. I did not have to buy anything thing else. The picture and sound quality are very good. No need for anything thing else for use in an automobile.

My friend and I purchased a Denon DVD-3800BDCI on the same day. We both agreed it made SD-DVD look like Blu-Ray. Blu-ray movies from both video and audio were fantastic. Collectively my friend and I own & have owned some amazing equipment. It is my opinion after owning several of the "best", Sony, Pioneer, blu-ray players the DVD3800BDCI is a statement product for the industry. Ease of use & the quality of the product is stunning. All I had to do was look and listen. I started adding up the amount of DVD's and Blu-ray's I have in my library and the price issue became a non issue. I had a brief service problem with my Denon while under warranty and the repair time would be excessive so they sent me a new unit. I respect and admire the product as well as the manufacturer's integrity when service was needed. Audiomeister

PROS: Superb CD over analog, excellent bass management, beautiful BD/DVD picture with Realta, decoding of ALL codecs, solid construction

CONS: Sluggish in response, expensive, not BD-Live 2.0 although some would call this a plus!

I've owned this player for nearly a year now and have watched a lot of the bugs get fixed through firmware. UPDATE: Decoding of DTS-HD HR (as of 1.115 firmware 11/24/08) is now included. Owners in forums were slow to pick up on this due to HR being the "forgotten codec." It decodes ALL now!!! The 3800 also does bitstream all codecs if you are so inclined. This player is really targeted to the analog crowd as it's got AL24 processing and great Burr Brown DAC's. If you own an HDMI capable receiver, then the purchase is more questionable as you are paying for an analog section you may never use. The Realta keeps the video reference quality so no need to keep the DVD player.

Summary:

Targeted to owners of non-HDMI receivers who want extensive bass management and listen to CD's and play both DVD's and BD's in one player. I suggest you purchase an extended warranty or get the Marantz BD8002 since it has 3 yr warranty and is a clone.

Similar players:

Sony BDP-S5000ES - a fine player but lacks the bass management that the 3800 has for the analog output (ie. fixed crossover).

Pioneer Elite BD-09FD - another fine player but will not have DTS-HD MA decoding until future firmware. It is also rumored to have variable crossover through future firmware but the manual currently implies fixed crossover. I personally would never buy a product based on "future functionality."

Marantz BD8002 - a clone of the Denon 3800 with a different power supply, faceplate, and Marantz's own upsampling instead of Denon's AL24. Otherwise almost everything is the same as the Denon.

After spending 2K for Denon's DVD 3800 BDCI the trouble began. I watched my first movie (SpiderMan 3 Blu-Ray) all went well. A week or two later I tried to watch Cloverfeild and 2001 A Space Od. NO GOOD.

Both movies started to stop and play at random, not a good thing. Went to Denon website, there may be a fix, upgrading the firmware. However I must ship the unit to Denon in NJ, worse yet I'll have to pickup the shipping both ways ($45.00 each way). Unit should have an ethernet connection so updates can be done off the web (like my Toshiba HD DVD)..

Must admit however when playing Blu-Ray disc quality of the pix is outstanding (but so was my HD DVD)...

Rather than trying to build their own upconversion technology for this machine, the Oppo DV-981HD the DCDi Faruja technology from Genesis Microchips. In addition to upscaling a DVD's native 720x480 interlaced video to 480p, 720p, 1080i, or 1080p, Farudja technology also detects content that has gone through 3:2 pull down to convert film content to NTSC for video, and recreates the original frames by blending the fields back together. It then processes for any edit mistakes and reconstrucs an accurate signal, producing an image free of motion artifacts. The unique DCDi algorithm can also identify moving edges within an image and adjust interpolation at a pixel level to create smooth edges for on-screen objects, eliminating the jaggy edges that commonly result from other upconversion techniques. Farudja processing also uses a proprietary "TruLife Enhancement" technology to identify transitions in the image considered to be details such as skin texture, freckles or hair, and enhance those to bring more detail in an image to life on the screen. This approach avoids image artefacts common with the peaking filter approach used by other systems for detail enhancement. Compared with Other Oppo DVD player models
At the time of this writing, Oppo also has the DV-970HD upconverting player, and their original OPD971H model. Of these three models, the DV-981HD is the only that upconverts to full 1080p, the other models offer upconversion to 720p or 1080i only. Both the DV-981HD and the DV-970HD offer Super Audio CD (SACD) playback, the OPDV971H does not. The other major difference to consider is that the DV-981HD and the OPDV971H both use Farudja processing for video upconversion. The DV-970HD uses a different upconversion system that may not be as full featured as the Farudja. For this reason Oppo recommends the DV-981HD, or the OPDV971H for use with larger screen HDTVs 50 inches or greater, while the DV-970HD is only recommended for HDTVs smaller than 50-inches. Oppo recommends the DV-970HD for use with external video processors or scalers, and suggests careful calibration of both the DV-981HD and the OPDV971H when used with DLP HDTVs. Both of these players are good for use with DLP HDTVs, but for the best picture, some setup time is required. For disply with a DVI input on your HDTV, an HDMI-DVI adapter is required with both the DV-981HD and the DV-970HD models.

Think twice before buying from Oppo. Below is a review on a prior-model Upconverting DVD player:

I purchased this DV-970HD unit about 2 years ago and in addition - two other units afterwards (2 are newer models). The other 2 units are working (1 I own and the other I gave as a present). For the 970HD, I have used it <10 times as it is not conected to my primary AV system (in the bedroom). However, this past weekend it quit operating and won't read any disks. It just says "no disk" with any disk I put into it.

I called customer care regarding trying a firmware upgrade or any type of resets that might help and was told by their rep "Mason" (he later told me that he is their Technical Service Manager) that there is nothing I can do as it won't read disks (no ability to perform a firmware grade because the disk cannot read it). He then told me that I would need to ship it to him at my expense and then pay $37 for repairs. I expained to him that I have only used this item <10 times and he said that "they don't know that - that this is just my word" (thus, he is saying that he doesn't trust or believe me). I then say I have purchased 2 other units from them and offered to send him proof of these purchases (thus giving him an opportunity to gain trust in what I say) and I also told him that I recommended his company to many others likely giving them more business. I asked, as being a very good customer to Oppo, if he would consider covering all/part of the repair charges. He came back with the same reply - that they have standards to maintain - the 1 year warranty and that there is nothing he can do. I asked him again if he would reconsider and he said no.

I then said that he has left me no choice but to never purchase another Oppo product again, not recommend their product to anyone again and then possibly go onto Amazon.com and give a poor review. He said "there is no chance now that I would grant your request because of a threat". Puzzled, I asked him if there still was a chance that he would have granted my request??? He then said that "if you would have continued to have a positive discussion with him on my situation that he might have..." (i.e.- kiss his a**). I then said that I am not talking to you here to play games and that he & his company had an opportunity to satisfy/delight a customer or give customer dissatisfaction, and that you made the decision earlier that you wouldn't help me. I then told him that I will only purchase products from companies that make more reliable products (Sony, Denon, etc...) and would write up this review on Amazon. The final straw for me is what he said in reply to my "threat" (it wasn't a threat, it was a promise), that if I would have played along and begged him he might have given in (when clearly he made up his mind beforehand, or they company did it for him with their policies and $s they put to customer care). I am mostly disappointed because I liked Oppo and wanted the company to succeed, (more small companies producing good products pushes all companies who make like products to produce better products) but this call from "Mason" completely changed my mind about them.

I think Oppo makes DVD players with good features & performance - WHEN THEY WORK - but question their reliability to the point of not trusting their quality. My experience having 1 out of 3 fail is quite poor - especially the one that was rarely used. By comparison, I have probably purchased over 25 consumer electronic items from Sony, Denon, Panasonic, etc... over the years and have NEVER had one of those products fail.

Bottom line: You get what you pay for. You can save a little upfront with Oppo, but in the end I think you will likely pay more and have greater hassel with repairs and poor customer service (like a rep who plays the "victim" to a perceived threat, but holds an imaginary carrot out there that he will help you if you play his game).

It's been about a month since I purchased the Oppo DV-981 HD Universal DVD Player and quite honestly I am impressed so far. It delivers everything it promises with regard to purchased DVD's. There is a real and noticeable difference. One problem is that it boasts of being a DIVX certified player, while this is true it only supports DIVX 6 and no later versions...so if you try and burn a copy from your hard drive using DIVX 7 the DVD player won't recognize the format. Also if you come this far, go to the model that has the USB 2.0 port, you will create a need for it in the near future. A great product and I give it two thumbs up while recommending it to my friends.

Recently paired this dvd player with a Philips eco-TV, and so far, I'm thrilled with this upgrade to our tv viewing experience.

With a simple workaround available on the Internet, the Oppo has expanded our DVD viewing to films made for other regions. The Internet audio-videophile community rated this model very highly, and since quality and value are very important to me, I went for it, and have not been disappointed yet.

Only one quibble: as others have noted, the player tends to "forget" where it left off if you stop the play. I haven't quite mastered this function yet, but for me, this problem, while annoying, is not a fatal flaw, and all the positive aspects far outweigh it.

I bought this item for my baby grandaughter's room so my daughter could play CDs and cassettes at night when she went to bed. The CD player never worked and now I can send it back but I have to pay for shipping both ways which is going to be about $15.00 because the company doesn't reimburse you for shipping. I am very disappointed and even if I did send it back, there may be a good chance of it happening again. The product is very tinny and not good sound quality . I researched so many products for copying my records and tapes. This unit did it all at a reasonable price. It's not recording studio quality, but old albums, 45's, even 78's played just fine. I was happy to copy my cassettes and listen to cd's or record to them. The USB and SD feature is great. I can plug in my MP3 player and listen to music for hours. It has a cute design, and I love the timer feature as well. The arm on the phono player doesnt stop at the end of the record though. But I'm very happy with this radio so far.

I searched around for one of these all-in-one entertainment

units and chose this one because it recorded with

the use of a jump drive inserted into a slot in the front.

It was very easy to use. Simply insert the jump drive,

hit "Record", and start playing the album. Worked like a charm.

From there, you can just upload the mp3 onto your computer and

burn it to CD or do whatever you like with it.

The unit looks very nice. (I bought the oak one rather than

paprika). The sound is not particulary powerful, but it's clear

and sufficient enough for casual listening. If I ever want to

crank it up, it does have external speaker outputs in the back.

The one negative aspect is the fact that the record player arm

does not return to its starting position when the album is done

playing. The album stops spinning when it reaches the end, but

the arm just stays sitting on the album. However, that's no big

deal since, once the album's done playing, I want to put it back

into the sleeve.

Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase.

When the third player was received, it came with the wrong power cord and the headphones did not work. I ended up sending all back for credit and I am still waiting. I contacted Coby and was advised that I had to pay $18, even though the product has a 90 day warranty. I sent the DVD to them anyway, with the $[...] money order. I received a brand new , sealed, same model back, and this time it stopped working after just 1 day of playing DVDs. The same problem as the 1st one, it just stop reading disks. Do not buy this product, it is JUNK.

I purchased this item for my father for christmas. One day later is stopped working completely. This product was sold thru amazon by Ritz Camera. It has now been three weeks since we contacted this company to either have the item replaced or refunded. To date this still has not been rectified. I do not suggest that anyone by any product by this manufacturer or from this company. In fact I think amazon should drop Ritz Camera completely. Each time Ritz Camera is contacted they tell you it will be 24 to 48 hrs to process the refund or replacement. Yeah we've been hearing that for three weeks now. Buy from them at your own risk. I bought this less than one year ago and only used it about 5 times. It worked well until the color went out. I called COBY and they said that the screen went out and that they only cover it for 90 days. Since it had been more than 90 days they would not fix it even at my own cost. What a waste of money.

As did most everyone, we bought two of these to keep our kids entertained on long car trips.

They worked perfectly and without fail for the first trip. I agree that the headrest mounting bag that comes with it covers some important knobs and inhibits operation. Has to be removed to adjust almost anything other than volume.

About midway through the second trip one of the players started gliching (like it was overheating or something), would just go black on screen and stop in the middle of a disc regularly. That irritated the kids more than if it hadn't fired up to start with. The second one started doing the same thing just before the end of trip 2. We tried to take them on trip 3 and they wouldn't last more than 5-10 minutes at a time. All this and they were about 2 weeks past the replacement plan date. They are in the garbage dump if you really want one.

I replaced the first one of these within 30 days, as it just quit playing DVDs completely, and one of the wireless headphones never worked. The replacement unit worked okay for about a week, and now it is locking up, overheating, getting stuck, yet randomly working fine. It is very finicky about power. It seems to not like car power, only the wall outlet. Performance is more reliable (though not good) when plugged into an outlet. The screen scratches easily and should have come with one of those plastic screen protectors. The remote is abysmally designed, crammed with buttons and confusing. The wireless headphones are a good idea, and work okay most of the time (if they work at all). Unfortunately, they are prone to bursts of loud popping static from interfering signals. Within a day I gave my kids some cheap wired headphones to replace the wireless ones.

If it were just one unit, I would say I got unlucky, but two in a row intermittently failing within a month of purchase indicates poor quality at the manufacturer, and it's just not worth it. I genuinely regret not spending the money on a video MP3/MP4 player instead.

I purchased this unit for my daughter to use in the car on trips. She watches Elmo, SpongeBob, and the Muppets, and she's happy. After two or three weeks, I no longer had a happy camper in the back seat. The picture went out of phase, discs wouldn't load, total disappointment. I called the vendor and was referred to Coby. Getting in touch with Coby has, so far, been an exercise in futility. If anyone can help me, I would really appreciate it.

I have purchased 2 of these DVD players. The first time I bought one, it lasted about a year then the remote quite working, even after I replaced the batteries, then a week later the player just wouldn't turn on anymore. I wasn't rough with it, only used it at home. I got my money back. I figured it was probably a bad DVD player, so I went and purchased another. It lasted a couple months longer than the last one and it did exactly the same thing when it broke down. I don't understand why these DVD players quit like that, but they just don't last. If you buy one, get it with the 2 year warranty so you can get your money back when it breaks down, because it will.

I bought this unit for my son's 18th birthday (he's an aspiring DJ, following in his aging dad's footsteps!) and I'm so impressed. The downside being that I've not seen him since! He's locked up in the bedroom kicking out some pretty impressive sounds! I love the fact that this unit has a memory to loop track samples even with the CD taken out, and the flexibility of this player. Superb value for money... even if you're not a DJ, this is one heck of a cool toy!

This little player is nothing short of outstanding. I only have 1 right now but Im working on getting another one as soon as possible. I haven't found any cons for this player and I will surely be using it for as long as its in working condition which I assume will be around 3 years.

If you are considering starting out as a dj these players are so affordable that you should have no trouble getting them. Im only 14 and was able to purchase it off of birthday money. The quality, durability, and versatility is unmatched by any other players in the price range.

Trust me, you will have no doubts once you own this player.

Full of features is what I love most about this product. However, what I don't like is the quality of the scratch disk. I am not a professional DJ, but I am sure that if a song is played and scratched, it should continue to play after the scratch. This unit's scratch operation is controlled by weight rather than a spinning disk (scratch disk does not spin); therefore, when releasing fingers from the scratch disk the weight provided may not always lift, causing the track to remain paused even when the play has not been paused manually. This could be a problem when playing at parties. I kind of figured out how to limit this problem by simply unscrewing the plate with a 1.27mm hex key and tightening the plate at the tip of the spindle. It helped to provide less weight when fingers are released. Once the scratch flaw is controlled, this product would receive five stars because of its amazing features, but if the scratch flaw cannot be fixed, it can piss you off. If you're really serious about DJing and adding scratching to your repertoire, add about $300 more and get the DN-S3500s (the scratch disk spins on the S3500s and the features are even better). The S1000s would be great to start with and grow from.

I installed this item in a boat for a customer. The player is hooked up to one of two 12" navigation screens, which have no sound capability. The sound output is through a six speaker Clarion saystem with a 320 watt amplifier. This produces a surround sound effect which the owner is very happy with. He especially like the remote control eye which allows him to control the player from anywhere in the boat.

Basandome en la famosa y muy buena reputacion que tiene la marca denon en estos equipos de audio compre hace poco este cd player y me lo eh encontrado excelente!!... el aparato tiene una bandeja simple de muy buena calidad, que coje un solo disco y esta construido de manera muy robusta y resistente,,dice por detras que esta hecho en japon lo que me gusto mucho e influyo en que lo comprara ya que ahora casi todo esta hecho en china .. tambien me gusto que es super facil de usar como cualquier cd player casero ya que odio esos aparatos para djs..lo compre hace poco tiempo, tal ves como hace 2 meses, y hasta ahora no eh tenido problemas con el... antes tenia un cd player marca numark pero no me gustaban muchas cosas del y tampoco se compara con denon.

la unica queja que tengo de este denon es que no me gusta como tiene los dos botones de buscar adelante o hacia atras dentro de una cancion mientras estas en play , es un tanto incomodo en la forma como funcionan estos dos botones , luego todo lo demas esta perfectoo ojala y me de muchos años de satisfacion...

Kind of expensive just for a CD player, but this unit is well built, rack mountable, easy to use and, best of all, sounds great. I bought a previously well reviewed CD player from Amazon a couple of years ago and, while still being used, pales in comparison. The sound that comes out of the Denon is "warmer" but much more transparent than the older one. You hear more throughout the frequency range (perhaps, less distortion) with better spatial depth. The Denon is heavier, so I assume its heavier case and better power supply contribute to a better base for the mechanical and electronic innards. All of a sudden, the price is very reasonable.

This machine seems to be reliable and sturdy, and does a fine job of playing CDs with clear reproduction. The carousel design seems easier to deal with than the plastic magazine cartridges I had to cope with in the Yamaha CD player I had been using.

The only drawback is the size of the case. It's large enough to cause a problem fitting into the wooden cabinet, where the older machine fit confortably. Potential buyers should measure their available space before purchasing the Denon.

I am not an audiophile but merely a lowly radio show host. I have been using this cd player at wwuh 91.3fm at the University of Hartford for the past year and have nothing but good to say about it. We use three cd players in our air studio and this one has withstood the test of time. Others have come, gone pfsst, and gone bye bye while this one remains. It is easy to use and functions flawlessly. We broadcast 24/7 so the equipment gets used relentlessly and sometimes ruthlessly. If you can tolerate a single cd player this one is great. The only flaw I find is the lag time between pushing play and getting output signal but I think that relates more to its integration to our control board rather than it being an idiosyncrasy of the unit.

A review on Amazon of another CD player, the Teac CD-P1250, said that it was the only single-disc CD player on the market. Nope, there's two. Well, one and a half anyway.

The Denon DN-C615 isn't exactly consumer gear, but it isn't exactly pro gear, either. It's got rack ears and pitch adjustment, and it's set up for a wired remote and output cascading, but the outputs are unbalanced RCA plus SPDIF. It has auto cuing and audible manual cuing within a track, but doesn't allow you to save cue points. So I think "semi-pro" is a pretty good description.

It's aimed at DJs, community radio stations, and sound reinforcement applications, and it wouldn't be out of place in a small studio for applications like sampling. And, what matters to my family, it drops right in to a home stereo system, so long as your cabinet can manage the rack ears (which don't look like they're removable except with a hacksaw).

The sound (even before break-in) is typical Denon: clear and airy, with both good definition and satisfactory thump in the bass, free of noticeable spurious harmonics. The controls and displays are easy to use and understand and don't have any immediately obvious ergonomic problems or bugs. It plays CD-Rs fine, both audio CD-Rs and MP3 CDs, and it allegedly plays CD-RWs, but I probably won't find out because CD-RWs and my computers don't get along.

MP3 files sound as good on the DN-C615 as I've ever heard them. You don't need to burn a special MP3 CD: it'll take plain data CDs with MP3 files on them and even lets you navigate through folders. But if you do give it a disc that's been burned as an MP3 CD, it'll run the playlist in order, which is a big improvement over my DVD player which plays MP3 files in some strange order I have yet to figure out. And I have to admit, seeing the song titles change as it plays is positively decadent.

The price is a little higher than I'd have liked, and unless you want to build a wired remote or have your chair real close to the player, you'll need a special remote (another US$40). But I do like the player so far.

"Sock it to the ipods!" 2008-06-11

I could never understand why all the people I knew I had 3 or 4 ipods (most of them broken) but my ipod had stayed alive for the past 3 or 4 years. Then my ipod broke. I was crushed!!!

It was then I rediscovered this little gem - ahhh my old minidisc player! Massively underrated, much beloved.

I bought this model about 7 or 8 years ago. I realize, it's "obsolete" - but it's got so much going for it. My biggest agony with the ipod breaking is that due to the amount of music I have purchased, I'm stuck buying another ipod forever - or burning dozens of cds and then ripping them all back into my computer. Or alternatively, I can take a minijack to minijack and plug it into any computer or audio source and grab what I want. How easy is that?

It may seem pretty far out but studies have proven that too much choice can make people unwell, anxious - sick! I'm a cronic shuffler. With my ipod I catch myself constantly shuffling my entire collection - skipping 95% of my music. With 4000+ songs, what the heck should I listen to? Too much choice!!! Too much choice!! I can't handle it! Music is supposed to be nice!!!

All resolved with the minidisc! Due to space limitations I had only my actual favorites on the discs, and every disc was "made with love" - not some playlist thrown together in five seconds on iTunes.

Other perks? the battery lasts a million years unlike with my dead ipod. And the fact that it accepts regular batteries is unbelievably handy for traveling, too.

I just really, really wanted to sing the praises of this little machine. Let the kids give Apple all their money. I'll be the square on the train fumbling with a collection of discs.

I've had this model (Sony MZ-R700) for over 2 years now. I love it so much and HIGHLY recommend it.

The audio quality is excellent -- I record in LP2 mode most often and cannot tell the difference in quality between that and Sp mode.

The size of the walkman is perfect -- small, portable, and easy to reach into your pocket and fiddle with.

Operating the recorder is very easy -- especially when you use the SYNC RECORD method (hooked up to a digital output). I've even recorded from VHS tapes and my old turntable (LP's) onto minidisc and the quality is amazing.

The only thing I can complain about is the TMARK system of placing "markers" on the disc. The process of combining or removing markers is a bit convoluted -- it took me a while to master it. It is possible to do some basic "editing" with markers, but be ready for a learning curve.

The other complaint is that, much like Apple users, you will be one of the few (but lucky) owners of a minidisc player/recorder. If sharing music is important, then think about your minidisc purchase. If you like, for instance, to make mix-discs for your friends, then think about how many of your friends have a minidisc player. If you are simply looking for an excellent, portable way to listen to music, then MD is the way to go!!

Also, using the PC connect is a great tool -- I've transferred MP3's from my computer to minidisc effortlessly. With my Dell laptop I had to change a few audio settings to get the tracks to output correctly to the MD player. That's more of a laptop problem than a Sony MD problem, though.

So .... if you are on the fence about MD player/recorders, DON'T BE. This model is great.

I bought this about one year ago (2001, Dec.). I loved it. It was light, and also very easy to operate. However, it broke right after the warranty (2002, Dec.). I had no idea why it broke....I didn't drop it...didn't abuse it.... it just died.

So disappointed.

Had product just outside the 30 day return window and Unit would not play DVD's. Contacted Coby and they have you pay $10 to ship it to and from their business, so you end up paying $20 more to have them fix their cheap product. Coby returned the product broken, and they again expect you to pay another $20. Worst Customer Service, would rather pay the extra $20 originally to buy a quality product.

Bought this last minute for a road trip - needed to keep our small child happy. It was a good price, it shipped quickly and was set up and ready to run in no time. All in all, we're happy. If it was something for my husband or I to use on a regular basis, we may ahve spent more money and looked for some upgraded features. We bought 2 of them for the children ages 3 and 8. We love them. There is no loud motor sound as mentioned in a previous review. The volume is perfect. It can never be so loud it will hurt ears. The children can hear it just fine in the backseat and it can't be turned up so loud that the front seat has to hear it, too. The price was very reasonable and the battery has made it through about 3 hours or more of viewing before signaling low battery. I love the light weight and the small size. The picture quality has been excellent and we have been using our players frequently. I recommend these players highly!

Received as a freebee item from a vendor and so did not have high hopes for it... well, 2+ years later with almost daily use, this compact player is still going strong with no problems whatsoever. Perfect as a bedroom player with a pair of earbuds or light headphones. Image quality, sound quality (with headphones) both better than fine and it is very comfortable keeping this lightweight unit on your lap. Not the best build quality in the world and I think it helps that the unit rarely leaves the house and is used carefully. Some others have had QC problems, so I guess it's the luck of the draw, but it you get a good one and use it with care it seems you are good to go.

It took one month to deliver this dvd player. I dunno if it was a screw up in the shipping database or what but I will not count this towards my opinion on this item. This player is really slow, and one in every five discs that I put in, it makes this constant repetitively loud clicking sound that does not stop unless you plug it off and on again. Picture quality is great and so far it has played all of my normal dvd's and 2-3 blue rays. Average at best. I only got this because it came free with my Sharp Aquos TV last year during the holidays. I would stick with the playstation 3 if you want a blu ray player. They load quicker and also does a whole lot of other things besides play dvd's.

I can't speak for others, but after doing the latest firmware update, I have not had any playback issues. Every Blu ray or DVD I've watched has played flawlessly. Quick start makes this unit load discs faster than my previous Sony Blu ray player and the tray ejects instantaneously. Good unit.

This blu-ray player is awesome, when it works. I've had a few movies that are very difficult to play, and some that won't play at all...most are not problematic. Last night, however, I tried to watch "Interview with the Vampire" and not only would it not play, because it was an "incompatible disc",(um, it's blu-ray...what is the problem?) it also has caused ALL of my other blu-rays to now read as "incompatible discs". I'm so very pleased I dropped $300 on this thing last year, and have amassed a nice collection of blu-rays only to not be able to watch ANY of them. I'm sure if I reset the system, restart, possibly download some firmware (which is no longer available on the Sharp site), cover myself in molasses and dance in a counterclockwise circle by the light of the full moon, it will work again. NOTHING should be this much of a pain. Seriously, my computer is less problematic (of course, it is a Mac). Even if this is a great price point, don't buy this unless you have the patience of a saint, and the brains of an IT geek.

This DVD/VCR player is doing exactly what I expected it to do. It plays all of my DVDs and I am able to watch my home videos (on tapes) which is why I bought it in the first place. Hook-up was quick and did not need extra cables. I get a great picture on my tv. For the price I paid, you can't beat it.

Bought this model at a local Wal-Mart due to price. Since VCR's don't have a history of longevity, I was not wanting to spend more than I had to. Since the unit does not have a tuner, I had to purchase a modulator in order to get it to work with my DISH unit. Attempted to play a few of our VCR tapes to check the quality. The first tape skipped and had poor picture quality, even though it played perfectly on our old VCR. The next two tapes had poor picture and sound quality, even though they also looked and sounded fine on our old VCR. Am returning the unit to WM. Will be forced to spend more money to get a better unit. I would give an "A" to Magnavox for their telephone service support. However, I would give this unit a "D" on performance. I would not recommend this unit to anyone who wants a good, quality VCR/DVD player.

We use cable and there is no co-axial screw-in, so you have send the signal through the TV and then into this unit another way. Returned it back to wal-mart and got refund and bought different one on amazon.

I just spent quite a bit of time hooking up one of these models bought at Wal-mart. After I figured out how to make it work with our TV so that it would both play and record, we discovered some of it's shortcomings. We use cable and there is no co-axial screw-in, so you have send the signal through the TV and then into this unit another way. Okay, we could deal with that. There is no digital readout screen on the front of the unit. (yes we did notice that before) The buttons like "play" do not light up. (didn't realize that) When setting up the clock and all that we discovered there is no internal tuner to set up or receive the channels from cable. It does have a timer to record, but it will only record whatever is being played on the TV at that time. So you can not watch one show while recording another. Also, if the TV is off, guess what it will record? That's right - nothing. Screwiest, craziest VCR we've ever owned, but as I speak it is being taken back for a refund. That's why I'm on here looking around. Haven't found anything yet that will meet our simple needs for under $100. I guess we have to pay more or change our ways or both.

If you want 'richer' sound - pay more, otherwise this is a fabulous value. All the features I was looking for - Bridging the audio generations - radio, dual tape deck(haven't used yet, but have tapes not on CD), Multiple CD, to I pod dock. Hardly ever turn it off.

I shopped the stores - didn't find better deal let alone all these features!

I have been looking for a shelf unit that can play more than 1 CD and has a cassette player -- a really basic one. Of course the simplest unit is the hardest to find out there nowadays. So I finally found this one, bought it in store for a good price, brought it home and put it together. First thing I noticed was that the buttons are not intuitive at all. Directions to set the clock is not intuitive at all. then the clock does not display well. so fine, I can live without the clock. Then just before it finished playing a CD, it switched to 'ipod' mode for no reason. I can't switch it back. I tried pressing 'cd', 'tuner', 'tape', and the ipod mode is still there. To reset it, I have to unplug and replug. I thought it was my lucky day so I exchanged for another one tonight. I put it together and after 1 hour, same thing happened (this time with 2 eye witnesses). I am going to return this unit for sure. I am going to buy my other choice...

FIVE STARS!

This is the only and best stereo system I've ever had! I have a predeccesor to this product (XL-UH242), it is very similar, just a few differences.

PROS:

-5 disc changer!

-Little steel screens go in front of the speakers to protect them; they can be removed easily!

-Big o' honkin' Volume dial! Easy to grab.

-Very nice screen: it shows you the information about what you are playing and it is easy to read!

-Picks up FM and AM great!

-Headphone jack

-Line in on back; I am always using it!

-Subwoofer port on back! Awesome!

-X-BASS is really cool!

-Remote signals can be picked up from really good distance

-Plays WMA's! GREAT feature!

-It still works if you made your own CD

-Doesn't run hot

-Can set it to play stuff at certain time

-Shiny

-Good quality, the remote is great!

CONS:

-Short power cord

-CD takes a while to start playing

-Can't tune it, skip to certain tracks, or pause from the main unit; only on the remote(don't lose the remote!)

-USB doesn't work always, but that's okay

Overall, if you are looking for a stereo, this is probably your best option! Sharp is awesome anyways!

The ipod cradle on top is nice, and the unit worked with my pre-existing book shelf speakers. But there isn't any place to attach extra ones.

I considered sending it back when I discovered that you have no control over individual sound settings. You can only choose from a list of pre-set settings. So if I wanted to boost the treble, or lower the bass- can't be done. Because of that, I don't like it.

I tried this unit out at the store and was quite pleased with the sound. I wanted a unit with built-in iPod docking, and this one had the best features and superb sound.

It does really sound nice, and you can control the iPod pretty effortlessly with the included remote, However, one MAJOR disappointment for me - the iPod will not charge when the unit is turned off. When you turn the unit off (standby) it puts the iPod in sleep mode.

The workaround is to turn on demo mode, but that just scrolls all sorts of colorful stuff on the screen, which would be distracting while trying to fall asleep. Considering I bought this unit for my bedroom, that's not really an option. What a letdown! I'd have given this 5 stars if the iPod charged while the unit was off.

Other than that, the unit is great. great sound, 5 EQ presets and XBASS setting, 5 disc CD changer and dual casette, which, admittedly, I do not plan to use. The radio gets good reception and sounds good as well.

Setup was straightforward, as was using the unit. I did not need to open the booklet at all, except to learn how to set the clock. I would never have guessed how to do that - it's pretty complicated.

The unit comes with 8 dock adapters that will fit most (especially newer) iPods. They follow the same numbering system as Apple, so if your ipod came with a dock adapter, look at the number on the back, and use the matching numbered adapter that was supplied. You could also just use the adapter that came with the iPod, but the supplied adapters are easier to remove / exchange if necessary. And, the Apple adapters are white, while the unit's adapters are black.

It also has a sleep function, and a record timer function that lets you set a time to record radio programs to cassette.

Finally, there is a headphone mini-jack output, and a line in mini-jack input, which is shared with the ipod input.

In closing, my one wish for this unit would be the ability to charge the ipod any time it is in the dock. However, due to the sound quality, I can partially overlook this.
